The fact that folks in the pro-Miami column are holding up supposedly superior nightlife as some sort of validation, should tell you a lot about Miami and the people here. It has little else going for it.
I'm in LA and making the case that Miami has a much wilder nightlife. The fact that you lambast the notion that a superior nightlife is a notch in a city's favor tells me that you would fit in perfect here in LA with the mopey sarcastic crowd that thinks a party scene is too vapid for their superior tastes. I mean what would complimenting Miami's nightlife tell you about the people other than you think you're better for avoiding it it something?

Don't worry someday you will escape, come to LA and add to the multitude of insufferable transplants that say stuff like you posted. It tells me a lot.

L.A. has a subway and lightrail system that is improving and comfortable hot weather rather than wet moist miserable hot weather.

I love LA, but we don't need another person running away from home and then chiding others for saying they like X about Y city. I think there is an ample stock of that.

I live here, but Miami is most definitely not my home. Wasn't born here, didn't grow up here. BTW, I've worked in the service industry for some time. Mostly bars and clubs. I know the scene.

My point was, if 1 only 2 consecutive positives being posted about the place are it's "fabulous nightlife", it says there isn't much else going on here.

You could read that as a short list of pluses.

I could understand you if you were living in Podunk, Iowa but you live in a major city, a major tourist destination that boasts a variety of culture. Nightlife, entertainment is a big factor for people when moving to a city along with employment, affordable housing and low crime. Miami may not be my most favorite city but its not like there isn't anything to do besides clubbing.

No I don't. I look at pros and cons of places but I never say that there must be it tells you what kind of person he or she is because they like this aspect of this spot.

Miami does offer a better nightlife as its more centralized, and the clubs open a lot later than LA(2Am is a lame time for clubs to close). But LA offfers more in everything else.

I guess the question is how much MORE do you need...and if you are willing to pay more . For some people that price is worth it and for others it's not. Clubs aren't something I go to often enough , so I don't have a strong desire to live in Miami. I do like the South Florida area which Miami is part of , and it seems there could be enough there to not get bored.

Cost of living is one huge factor...but also a lot of it is how the city is kept up too (quality of life) and how the city is run in general. I plan to get into business and invest in property rather than having a job though and it might not be the best place to get a job. But I still think in Miami or near Miami area you can get by pretty decently and not have to make a ton of money.

Take a look at the cheapest properties in Miami for example and compare to the cheapest in L.A ...I think it would be hard to say that Miami is not undervalued currently. It's not some small one horse town in the middle of nowhere.

But I know a lot of people on here will give the same old "Anyone can afford to live well in L.A..you just rent for the rest of your life with roommates..of course you won't be able to have kids and raise them decently either..but that's ok...there's so much cool stuff to do in L.A! Can you really say that's enjoying life? Is that a good long term solution for most people?

I think moving to a city like Miami or ANOTHER city that is affordable AND has stuff to do could be the best decision for many people living in L.A . Sure I know many on this board take advantage of the various things L.A has to offer..but how many are just working a bunch of hours , and don't even have much time to take advantage of a fraction of the stuff.?
