Thank for all the kind words and intelligent debating that has occurred in this forum. Good luck and best wishes to you all left behind.
Ahh, another Knoxvillian! I wonder if he's a native or not or just a transplat. Wish he would post us a update as to how he's doing there.

Would put money on it that he's probably extremely comfortable and happy there.

I'm also someone who is leaving; I came from Knox, have come here, enjoyed the big city life, but am ready to go back where being middle class isn't practically being poor.

Have not one thing bad about LA to say and don't regret it, but can't wait to leave and go back to the life I lead where I was much happier at the end of the day.

Los Angeles for me was like the love affair of a lifetime. Something you'll always hold special, and won't forget one second of. But nothing lasts forever.

I moved here 5 years ago this month. If you lived here all of your life then go see how it is in other places. I lived in Seattle, Washington DC, Newark NJ, New York, Dallas and a few other cities. LA is by far my favorite. I drive less here than any other city I lived in. My commute to work is about 10 minutes. This to me makes all the difference in my quality of life. My commutes in DC and NY were hell on earth. I don't find it to be any more expensive than the other cities I lived except maybe Dallas and in that case you get what you pay for. Crime is no worse. The people are pretty chill especially compared to DC and New York. As far as Knoxville Tennessee, you can have that mess. In my short stay there I was called the 'N' word 3 times, plus my rent a car was keyed with numerous scratches. So much for family values in that backwards town. I love LA.

Google the Newsom Murders if you want to talk about racial hate. One of the worst and just indescribable, horrific slayings (that's far too nice of a word) I and most people have ever heard of, and it didn't make the national news, of course.

Saying that, I'm sorry for your bad experience there (I'm gay, hold hands there and have never been called the F word), and am glad you are enjoying L.A. Best of luck.
