I lived in Hollywood for about a year , and I mostly enjoyed it. It's a dense area and yeah there can be some weird or shady people around...but it always seemed like there was a lot of police around or closeby. I'm sure all the tourists in the area means they want to try to keep crime down in the area.
I think the architecture and history , the old bars and restaurants that are still around just give it a unique feel and add a lot of character.
It's a walkable neighborhood too and there are several subway stops giving you easy access to other parts of the city.
I have seen the neighborhood gentrify quite a bit with new buildings replacing old ones or vacant lots.
It will be interesting to see how the area evolves in the future.

To be fair, most parts of LA are non-existent to YoungTraveler.

Worst neighborhood? Hollywood Hills. Rich ***holes who have nothing better to do than putting up fake no-parking signs and hiring fake security to try and scare away commoners from HIKING ON PUBLIC LAND. Heaven forbid a "poor person" might quietly park on the PUBLIC STREET in front of your house, walk up the hills for a couple of hours, then leave. Seriously, the whole lot of them can just go strait to hell.

And YoungTraveler, seeing as you just informed us that you don't live or spend time in actual LA, I feel like your opinions can just be voided now...

Pity personal definitions when they don't square with the bigger reality.

That traffic you were complaining about in Mid-Wilshire in other threads is very much part of your world, is it not, tidy YT?

Sucks for you considering those are the worst parts of LA.

To be completely honest, I'm actually very glad that people like you infest BH, SM, West Hollywood, etc. Means I rarely have to deal with them.
