I think I brought that up on page 1 and he said he'd prefer that he just gets some help on the side ...whatever that means

Even if you did come here and qualify for state benefits you'd end up in the ghetto and the ghetto here is much worse than ghetto in Boston
I agree and Atlanta has to be cheaper. If you move here I'd suggest an apartment with air conditioning which amazingly plenty of them don't have, unless you want to be miserably hot for our six month long summers (often longer -- 85 degrees on Christmas isn't rare). The drought is so bad that even the city of Beverly Hills has stopped watering the medians and let all the grass die. Unless you have friends you can stay with or a trust fund, this city is way too expensive for what it is and you need a steady job to survive here.

How can you move across the country with no job or savings? Also, you don't drive, and LA is very car oriented. Acting also is not a reliable job, so you'll have to find a part time job (or a few) to be able to pay rent, utilities, etc. How old are you? This sounds like a train wreck.

Yeah, I think the OP should immediately get a membership at Equinox West Hollywood and find a sugar daddy, regardless of his sexual preferences. Sucessful actors have taken this route. He could live really well and probably nab someone connected to show biz who could get him auditions. Meanwhile, all he has to do is light houseboy duty, as long as he keeps himself in shape. Far better than working for a year, living with cockroaches, and waiting for lousy benifits.

Considering he notes his best qualities as his amazing personality and funny voice I doubt he will be able to support himself with his looks

Many people have come here with better credentials and had no success. I know someone who did this; she graduated from NYU with a degree in acting, came out here and did bit parts here and there for a while, but now she's 40 years old and is working in a restaurant as a manager. Just because you have a dream doesn't mean it comes true.

I'd bet that many porn actors and actresses thought they were coming to L.A. for their big break that never happened, but then they turned to porn as a temporary way to survive. Their temp job becomes permanent as they get hooked in by the easy money.

Why can't you people just suggest the most feasible way of getting here that has absolutely NOTHING to do with pimping myself out? Like say a group home or a part of LA where I'm guarenteed to find an apartment in the cgeap hundreds range?
