So do I - in principle. In practice, I am not sure what it will accomplish (but I genuinely don't know, not trying to be a wiseass): is there that much traffic between South Pas and Long Beach that this is warranted?

You know what's more important? I'm sure a greater number of us are demanding the Corona-Irvine Freeway to connect Riverside with Orange County.

Why would anyone in LA care about that, boyo?

I don't think you should compare the end locations of a freeway to justify the expansion. All I know and have seen is that Pasadena and South Pas are overrun by street traffic during rush hour, which really affects quality of life there.

The 710 freeway extension debate has been going on for years and you've had a fair amount of opposition especially from South Pasadena residents who don't want it, which I understand, as it's a nice, quaint community.

There has been a tunnel proposal but we shall see if it ever comes to fruition.

You would probably have to condemn about 1/2 Billon $ in real estate to get that done.

And bring down the value of surrounding real estate even more. Who wants a freeway right on top of their home or business? Being freeway adjacent is one thing, but a freeway cutting right through your neighborhood is another matter entirely.

The plan that supporters of the freeway extension support the most is a freeway tunnel, not something that cuts through the neighborhood.
