I may be working at the airport soon while my girlfriend lives in Montebello. I want to find somewhere between these cities where the commute won't be crazy and I can still easily spend time in Montebello. Looking at maps I can see a lot of these cities are in South LA like Compton. Are there any nicer areas?

Definitely depends on what you qualify as "nice". You might look at Gardena, Hawthorne, or Downey.

As you've noted, the areas between LAX and Montebello as the crow flies are bad parts of LA.

Given that there is a lot of traffic on the westside and near LAX, I'd highly recommend finding somewhere closer to LAX than Montebello. Not sure what your budget is, but I'd look into Culver City. It won't take you too long to get to LAX since it's just 5-6 miles down the 405. And as far as visiting your girlfriend, since Culver City is right next to the 10 freeway, it's a straight shot east to Montebello. No traffic, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.

Depends, if you're white, wouldn't recommend any of those neighborhoods just being honest here a white man with a job and I assume disposable income is a really easy target, especially with the crime rate going up recently, don't get mad not being racist here just looking out for ya

Downey's nice. Gardena is a mixed bag. Hawthorne's gangland, way too dangerous, except for Del Aire and Wiseburn.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah my girlfriend suggested Culver City too. I may just look into the beach cities and Culver City. Thanks!
