Hello to all
My husband, 9 month old daughter and I are moving to Long Beach and I am curious about a specific area. I know that the ideal area to live in is Belmont Shores but I have found a place that I LOVE in an area that I am assuming isn't the greatest. The place is on Lemon Ave to the west of Alamitos Ave, east of Atlantic, and north of East Anaheim Street in the 90813 zip code. I am aware that it hasn't always been the greatest place, but I have heard that it has cleaned up quite a bit. I just want some honest answers to whether or not you think that it is a good place for us. I really love this place, but if it is in an area that I won't feel safe in I will have to pass on it. Thank you so much for your help.

Actually, the safest area in Long Beach is in the 5th district - east Long Beach. Personally, I would not move there where you are considering....there are some nice homes, but the crime is quite high and you are very close to some of the worst areas in Long Beach.

How much are you looking to spend? I live in the Alamitos Beach area which is East of Alamitos, and south of 4th. It's safe where I am and full of couples (us) and young families. But like every city, there are pockets. Look at Belmont Heights also for affordable places.

Hello again. So I don't think that we are going to go with this place even though I love it. Nobody has anything good to say aabout that area. I was wondering if anyone could tell me if Mira Mar Ave east of Redondo is a good area to live. I am looking at a place on that street. Any info would be great. Thanks again!

Just dont wander too far north....close to ocean=good (and not just for recreational purposes)..you should just stick to belmont or Alamitos bay....id say do whatever if you didnt have a kid...im moving to the lakewood area in a few months....but im a single guy in my 20's....lil different....you have an infant (obivously) dont wanna be risky. stay close to water....btw the second place you listed is an ok location I would say.

Thanks for the info. I think the place is about 10 blocks from the ocean so hopefully it is a decent spot to live.
