I'm not sure what part is not true? Illegal aliens should be deported, they are law breakers. Broke the law to get into the country, broke the law when getting employment and broke the law when filling taxes under someone else's identity or not at all. This a long and on going effort.

As recently as 2015, the total number of Mexican-born inmates in New York State prisons was greater than the total number of all inmates from the entire European continent.

Let me repeat that -- there are more people from Mexico in New York State prisons than from every country in Europe, combined. And, for what it's worth, almost all "Europeans" in New York State prisons are Muslims.

That's really saying something, too, since approximately 50% of Mexican immigrants live in either California or Texas, not New York or the Northeast.

Moreover, approximately 70% of Hispanic criminals in Upstate New York are serving prison sentences for violent offenses (i.e., rape, murder, aggravated assault, etc.).

FYI, reviewing prison vital statistics is the best way to obtain information regarding illegal immigrant crime rates, since prisons are compelled to record and report this information.

Unfortunately, the federal government -- at least under the Obama administration -- largely withholds this data to demonstrate just how wonderful and productive [illegal] immigrants are.

For instance the total foreign born population of NY State prisons is around 10%. So what you are suggesting is that more than 5% were born in Mexico. Got a source for that?

Looked a little further. Mildly aged data but probably worse than today.

So at most Mexicans would be 1% of the NY state prison population and probably less. So that would be the upper limit on Mexican born illegal aliens. And likely well less than that.

Why would you do anything about Canada? They screen arrivals better than we do. And practically that border would be close to impossible to seal up. Every been in the islands between Seattle and Vancouver? How in the world would you ever close that up...and the Great Lakes would be even worse.

The present population of illegals in the country is well mixed into the Hispanic population and will provide cover for new arrivals unless we get it under control. That probably means reducing the number of illegals present to a small fraction of what they are now. The only practical way to do that is some form of legalization.

Hopefully in such a legalization we will manage to make it more difficult for employers to hire illegals. Maybe we need to breakdown and go to a national ID card or some such document.

Legalization of outlaws is not a solution in the slightest. You would be rewarding law breakers and sending a message to the rest of the poors wanting to come here that it's OK to do so. Changing definitions of words is not a solution.
