Here's the ones that need to close & are pretty much there NOW:

Paseo Colorado in Pasadena - such a shame too since there's no other malls in the Pasadena area!

Westside Pavilion - I like, so I hope it doesn't close up

(Anaheim GardenWalk - It's in Orange county, but I'll list it anyway)

Below is exactly what I was going to say about the Beverly Center!

This is true but the problem is that many now go and touch/feel and then buy online. Not price, but most stores have minimal size and style availability and online has it all. The availability in a store is the biggest problem.

If anything stores have reduced their selection in recent years, especially since the department store mergers....

I hope the Northridge mall doesn't close. I haven't been there in years, since I now live on the completely opposite side of L.A., but when I lived in the SFV, the Northridge mall was one of my favorite places to go. I have fond memories of it.

Edited to add: But not at xmas time! I avoided that place like the plague during holiday season. WAAYYY too overcrowded and horrible parking! I do all my holiday shopping online these days and avoid the crazy holiday crowds in L.A.

I love the westside pavilion. I went there quite a bit as a kid and still go now with my daughter. It's pretty cozy and brings back so many great memories.

It's very dead now though. There's still some solid buzz in the food court but for the most part it's very quiet. I hope it lasts!

Any words about Westfield Fashion Square in Sherman Oaks? It got it's 15 minutes of fame when Ellen took Britney Spears for an afternoon outing that bordered on hell-raising. Is the mall in the level of Century City or Northridge?

Didn't you just describe every weekend in L.A. instead?

I really like that one. I especially like the parking, because you just drive into the structure and park. That's my first choice of malls, because even though the Westside Pavilion is closer, it has awful parking. There's only one place to enter/exit without scraping, but there are clutch-killing speed bumps with bolts protruding from them just before the exits. Who's managing that mall, a monkey in a fez?

It's hard for them to attract enough shoppers when they lose anchor stores.

Queens Center? I hope this was after the expansion. The Queens Center of my youth was pretty dingy.

In the South Bay, it seems like the most of the malls we go to seem to be doing ok by my perspective. Is there an example of a “dying mall” in the South Bay for reference?
