Because Pasadena is run by people that care about the city. All the while the people that run that other city don't care about the city at all and just want to help other people from their ethnic group. I know people that work in middle management for that city and have said the same thing to me. They have told me that the only reason the city looks like it does now is because Americans are still in charge of the city, but the time 's coming when that ethnic group will take over and my friend's have said at that day they will retire.

It almost died in the late 1960's. White flight, terrible smog---one of the smoggiest cities in SoCal:

By other areas do you mean San Gabriel, Alhambra, Monterrey Park? Does places are not so bad. They are quite commercially vibrant. And it is very clean. Especially if you compare it to other chinatowns like in NYC.

Because it hasn't been invaded by a bunch of pretentious snob transplants that move to places like West Hollywood just to say they live there.

The main industries are for people with degrees (Huntington, Caltech, PCC, Kaiser, JPL, Jacobs, Parsons not a dream and a smile.

I don't think you've been ALL over Pasadena. Drive around north of the freeway for a while.

Yeah what's wrong with north of the freeway? You might want to go on zillow to see what homes look like being sold north of the freeway. This is 2017 not 1993.

Bingo and you just described the OP.

Pasadena is one of the gems of LA County. Let's keep it that way...stay in WeHo OP.

And early 70s as well. We bought a home in Altadena just before forced busing began. Even then the homes were well maintained, we lived in a great neighborhood but the smog was awful and when we got ready to sell our house, we almost took a loss. I think, if I remember correctly we broke even about. I do agree it is and has always been a beautiful city, but that doesn't make it a great place to live.
