I'm going to be moving down there this fall and need some advice on which places out of this list you think are the best for: safe/clean/walkable neighborhoods for a young family:

- Glendale
- Sherman Oaks
- Studio City
- Valley Village
- Toluca Lake
- Encino

I have also been told that where I want to get to by public transportation I should stay near the Orange line and then switch to the Red line in North Hollywood. I'm also wondering out of the areas I listed which ones would be the best for that travelling situation....I'm going to McCadden Place off of Hollywood Boulevard....
Thanks!

Public transportation sucks. You will be sorry you're using it. Which of those areas will be best will depend on your income. They are all decent areas. The biggest difference is the price you'll pay to live there.

I would vote for Glendale if you have school age kids. Glendale has it's own school district and gets a 8/10 on greatschools.net. some schools are not so good though so i would look carefuly at which one you'd be sending your kids to.
