I've lost 10 pounds just by stepping foot in L.A.

It happens.

Agree. Cali is very 'visual'. But, if you get 'a look' that really works for you whether through a stylist or something you came up with yourself, that's a plus.

People behind the camera never have to worry about looks. In LA, that's why they're behind the camera.

There is a law that says "if you are bigger than size 4 you are not allowed in the city limits".

Are you serious?

I've noticed that even though there are laws against discrimination a lot of employers of smaller businesses will choose people who don't smoke and are not over weight simply because the chances of them being away from work for health related issues are far less.

If you're good enough at your job, it won't matter what your weight is (with the exception of jobs like actor, model, or porn star, of course! ).

I think a lot of it is about self confidence. I've known overweight people who land any job they want because they walk in with that certain self confidence. I've also known size 0 people who struggle because they are so focused on being skinny, people acknowledge their low self esteem and aren't as willing to give them a shot. This a town that thrives on fear, so if you don't seem fearful you'll be fine!

Just out of interest, I wonder what a US size 4 is the equivalent to? I always thought it was a British size 8, but I consider that to be thin and apparently in Hollywood if you're bigger than that, you're doomed.
Seeing as I'm a UK 10, I better start the diet now...
