So now that gas is getting cheaper I can finally go on some 2-3 hour mini trips with the camera and need some new roads/spots to check out. I have driven the Baldy/Glendora/Azusa route too many times; as well as Malibu, Angeles Forest/Crest, Mulholland, Silverado, Carbon Cyn, Ortega, Turnbull, etc. I live in the Diamond Bar area and obviously the closer the better but I am definitely willing to drive if it is worth it.

Good views of city lights would also be appreciated as I have been to the same spots over and over and need some new ones. I am talking about ones where the horizon looks like a big computer chip! Please help me out as I am in need of new adventures.

I like the views in El Sereno. Not really a great area though...

A bit of a drive for you, but Palos Verdes Peninsula. From Rancho PV you can view the entire LA Basin on a clear day/night. From the Southeast side, you can view the ports, Long Beach and regions south. From the NW side, you can view the west side, Santa Monica Bay and Malibu. From the SW side, you can view Catalina Island and on a very clear day, other Channel Islands.
