Nothing can undo the recurring damage of the yearly Rose Parade and Rose Bowl nationally televised broadcasts.

Fair enough. You have my perspective now, which is I don't care enough to think about it.

That's meant to be sarcastic, right? You can't always tell on these forums. Lest anyone mistake it to suggest that LA has not culture, sophistication, vibrancy, or a place as a global city, that's of course not the case at all. LA has all of those things. So, obviously, does NYC. I see them as very different but equal. Both have their own pros and cons, and both are exciting, vibrant cities.

The question was rhetorical, yes. It was just my way of requesting more perspective.

Not only do New Yorkers hate LA, Los Angelinos hate New York!

They are two, totally seperate cultures - two seperate attitudes towards life

I don't think about NY, or know anyone that talks about NY. And, for all you New Yorkers, CA has earthquakes, floods, and fires every single day, except on New Years, so don't even think about coming here. It's really, really, bad here. As a matter of fact, I'm packing to leave as I post this.

new york is out of sight and out of mind. LACounty is larger than NYC in population and area. If California is 50 times greater than New York state and Los Angeles is the most influential "city" in California then it makes sense that Los Angeles is greater than NYC.

That is not true if you read the posts about NYC by Angelenos & most of the time the responses to some New Yorkers is that they don't know what they are claiming about LA. Honestly, people in LA don't even think of New York. Why would they? It's not that there isn't anything there in New York but most of it doesn't impress Californians or interest us.
