Look up the pre Civil War Republic of Louisiana flag. And not all of us are of Creole or Cajun descent. I am Cherokee and Scots-Irish.
The flag and the name represent the cultures of Louisiana.

"Lwizyan" embodies the entire culture make up of South Louisiana, not only the usual Spanish, French, African ( Senegalese & Malian ) and Native influences but the German, Italian, and Irish etc. backgrounds all present in Louisiana and understood in the Creole ethnic group, its a Creole spelling.

We all may recognize ourselves as Germans or Dutch in Louisiana yet most likely we go to Crawfish Boils with friends or make Gumbo for special occasions, both cultural Louisiana things, you do not have to be born in Louisiana or recognize your self as Creole or Cajun to be Creole or Cajun. Its not only a recognition, its the terminology you use, the holidays you celebrate, the food you eat and prepare and the costumes you care you may say you arnt Creole or Cajun but to others your differences will show suit more clearly than they will to yourself.

e.g. Someone can say they arnt American all they want, they can have two parents from the Ukraine, yet they could hold a American accent, eat cheeseburgers on a daily bases, and love country music yet continue to not call themselves American, just because they choose to do so does not make them some other Ethnicity in the case of your dilemma Cajun and Creole or in this case Nationality.

The crazy flag also represents the cultures of Louisiana. How it looks is your opinion.

The colours Blue, White, Red ( in that order going in a downward pattern ) are a fundamental point of the French influence in the area, The colours Green, Yellow and Red are a representation of the African influence from Senegal and Mali. The Yellow Star on the white field is a statement of the Catholic faith and Saint Mary, Our Lady of Assumption, "a patron saint of the region". The white fleur de lis on the blue field is a constant French influence. The Gold Cathedral on the Red field is for the Spanish influence from the early times of their control and heavy cultural influence. And, lastly the 6 semi-circling stars represent the 6 provinces that will form after the governmental formation. All historically meaningful yet modernized in this design.

We know every single person in Louisiana is not Creole or Cajun yet those two groups are the largest and most globally represented in the entire state not only in the Southern portion where they truly reside but the whole of the state which is a misconception. Among the other groups; The Vietnamese, Native ( Chitimacha & Choctow prominently ) Jewish, Italian
( most of whom are Sicilian ), and German-and-Irish in the New Orleans area, all apart of Louisiana ( most in modern times ) culture yet they are unknowingly by most natives as well as foreigners, what is know is Cajun and Creole and over time both of those groups have mixed with many of the others that are less recognized in Louisiana.

With that, we are in agreement. Well said. My parents aren't from here, but I was born and raised in the Lafayette area. This is my home. Always will be, no matter where life takes me....

This is fun to read but a bit fanciful. There is no way that LA (or any other state) would be permitted to secede without a fight (and, yes, sadly that would mean another bloody civil war). if you want to form your own country, find an island somewhere and do just that. Then, let the rest of the world see your perfect, peaceful country where all get along. WAIT! You do plan to have human beings in your country? If so, forget perfection and everyone getting along. Because it just isn't human nature.

Oh! And as far as being called Lousianans instead of Americans? You are both. And so are those in other states. For example, Mississippians, New Yorkers, Californians, Virginians, etc.

And, if you are actually serious, why not try and get it on a ballot and allow the people of Louisiana to vote on it?

That "Lwizyan" is derived from the créole spelling of Louisiana... which is what led me to believe this is some créole person who just has way too much time on their hands. Cajuns would never, ever, ever, go for that.

You have absolutely no clue on how to design a flag. That looks like the North Korean flag on acid.

And yet, if you gave me a year, it's still much, much better looking than anything I could come up with.

There isn't anything wrong with the Pelican flag... in fact, it's one of my favorites in the states.

Pennsylvania's is my favorite, though.

Let's also not forget the people who live in Louisiana but are not from it. There are tens of thousands easily. New Yorkers, Illinoisans, Michiganders, Floridians, Mississippians, Texans, and even international immigrants. Vietnamese, Scottish, English, Mexican, ETC.

Even if the native people of Louisiana were for this there are enough outsiders present to quell it.

And let's think, Louisiana has around 4,000,000 residents. The US military is larger than that.

It has been proposed in a meeting before the CPB do go off and fine a so called "Louisiana Promise Land" but truly that's ludicrous, we are Louisianians, we were born in Louisiana and there's nor reason for us to leave, so that idea has been disapproval by most of us in the CPB.

The whole purpose of this forum and over-all campaign trail is to spread the word for something like a Louisiana statewide ballot could at least be proposed, which from what has resulted just on this form is a frenzy of people making allegations without even trying to learn what this campaign actually stands for. Hopefully a chance is provided in the future, -Viva la Louisiane.
