But the reality of it is; Texas has jokes about Louisiana, Oklahama and Arkansas. North Carolina thinks South Carolina is inferior, Tennesse is the bastard child because it's on the OTHER side of the mountains. Virginia likes to remain above the fray. Georgia knows it's the best state in the South and pokes fun at Alabama. Florida isn't Florida, it's different country. Nobody wants to claim Kentucky.Mississippi makes every state look great...etc.

The NE and California thinks we are all uneducated, bible thumping hillbillies, so that bands us together in the end.

Don't take any of it seriously, no on else does.
WEll this Yank from the NE knows better than that!! Louisiana is a beautiful state so much more then just New Orleans, even though New Orleans is special
Dam hope to early retire one day soon in the Mandeville area

''why is people talking badly about Louisiana?''

Maybe because your garbled english makes us think your uneducated.
We have a seperate culture, one thing that's acceptable here is not tolerated where you're from. And this can be said vice versa. Nevertheless, this is probabley why we look at one another oddly.
It's you're, not your. And Probably, not 'probabley'

Check your own grammar before judging someone else.

I know you aren't trying to insult, but I have to ask... Why does everyone outside of Louisiana think we are all uneducated hicks who ride a boat to school and have pet alligators? I live in south Louisiana, and I have never seen a live alligator in the wild (of course I don't go looking for them either). I also drive a car to school. There are some people who live on the water and have to use a boat to get from place to place, but that is only in the swampy areas in South Louisiana. Please don't assume you know what people are like in a certain area. If you have questions, please ask.

Oh, as far as being uneducated, I made a 28 on the ACT in high school. I'm also about to get a bachelor's degree in Biology. So, I guess that makes me educated...

I live right outside of Baton Rouge and work IN Baton Rouge. I can tell you it has gone to sh*t since Katrina hit. There is so much more crime than there used to be. Also, traffic has become even more of a nightmare than it used to be.

Any city that grows will have increases in crime and traffic. I know NO caused some problems, but not to the extent that people make them out to be.

It's just easier to lay the blame.
I was raised by a street cop and grew up around several, so I have a good idea of how much bias would spin the answer if I asked.

I know crime went up due to evacuees and I know initially there was a lot traffic, but let's be real here.
BR has too little infrastructure for too much growth. We have almost double the population crammed into probably half the space of BR, yet our traffic doesn't even slightly compare to yours, but that's our fault. Your city has continued to grow and most of our people have left or settled, but the crime increase is our fault. C'mon.

Maybe if we start working together as a state, people won't talk badly about Louisiana. Nothing can ever get done because people hear are so "localized". North LA vs South LA, BR vs NO, Shreveport vs Bossier??, Orleans vs Jefferson & St Tammany.

and you live in Baton Rouge, huh..

I said nothing about BR that anyone looking in from the outside can't see, nor did I generalize Baton Rouge police.
