Most all the schools are below national standards, busing kids all over town because of racial quotas (only two cities in the Nation to do this). Traffic is absolutely horrible for a city this size. It is the only city I know of its size that does not have a true by-pass around the city. There is no public transportation system. The Mayor is at odd with the Police Department. The parks are not maintained because of BUDGET CUTS!!! I think you wil be suprised coming from Utah. I have traveled and lived around the world because of my career and I would give Louisville the BIG "F". MOVE TO ODHAM COUNTY!!!!!!
Are you saying parts of Jefferson county don't have electricity? Or are you purely basing that statement off the recent ice and wind storms that knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of people across the state? Oh and the taxes, try living in New York state, and then try and tell me the taxes are high here. They are not bad. The traffic is definitely not horrible for a metro of over 1.2 million people, I drive from St. Matthews to Oldham county every day and it takes me 20 min max. There is a public transportation system here called TARC, i do not know how you can say there isnt, because there are bus routes everywhere, all over the city, and some even extend into Oldham County. I'm not sure where you are coming from stating Louisville has no true By-Passes. There is I-265 and I-264 that wrap around the city, the only way you would HAVE to go downtown is if you were taking 65, and you have to be downtown to link up with any other interstate. Oldham County isnt all its cracked up to be, I live there so I know. Traffic is getting worse, the roads cannot handle to increasing number of cars traveling on them, and even if you live in Oldham County, you will come into Jefferson County for shopping/restaurants/hospitals unless you live in LaGrange.

There is a great LDH in Crestwood. I am an agent and I recently helped a family move from Salt Lake to Louisville. They live in the Glen Oaks neighborhood. The Craigs Creek or Worthington neighborhoods would both be great for families.

Id be careful in Craigs Creek, it connects to a neighborhood whose home values are way less then Craigs Creek, so your home values wont be as much, or go up as much, plus there are some iffy people that live in the neighborhood that connects, i know from personal experience. Craigs Creek itself is very nice, id just be careful.

i disagree, they may not be new-builds but there are some nice houses for 200k or less in Oldham County, and what part of Oldham County do you consider non-rural, its all pretty rural to me, at least comparing it to Jefferson County.
