He's more in touch with what's really happening in Maine than the other candidates. I agree with you on Libby! She's been there so long she's out of touch with everything BUT the educational issues, and even then her "solutions" aren't .... well, aren't! LePage has me even more concerned after last night. I can't help but look at him and think "oh God no, anything but that!". One of the things I liked last night about Cutler, and it's such a simple thing but it says a LOT, is that he didn't play that "let me relate to you by using your first name and trying to create a connection to you and make it personal before I answer your question"! He didn't play that game, he didn't waste time, he simply answered the question.
I could not agree more (with bolded). I wanted to smack the one who kept doing that frequently. I just want a clear response - period. Leave the schmoozing, baby-kissing, here's my sales pitch out of it. Additionally, that kind of idle chit-chat wastes time for the kids who wanted their questions answered.

I agree with you about the legislative experience 'tho. I've talked to a few "newbies" who went charging down there not having any idea of the foolish "pecking order" psychology that goes on there for the junior players. They're pretty much unable to do much for at least the first year no matter who they are IMHO.

I got my crystal ball back today. Although it has not yet been thoroughly tested, I think some of the cloudy images are starting to clear up. I THINK it is telling me that there will be posts in this forum on Wednesday with reference to Maine, Hell and handbaskets in the same sentences.

I like Eliot Cutler's zillion dollar mansion in Cape Elizabeth...what a down to earth "for the people" type of guy.

LOL! I didn't realize he had a place there... I'll be there next weekend, maybe I'll stop in! Really though, good for him that he's been able to do well. Hopefully he'll have a chance to be as productive in government as he has in his personal life, and some of the intelligence of money management that he's picked up along the way will be put to good use for Maine.

Not that polls are all that reliable but the two most recent polls put LePage ahead of Mitchell and Cutler by about 14 points. Cutler seems to be close to passing Mitchell now...so there's hope Cutler fans!

You need money to manage. Maine is broke and in deep debt. Now dentists have dropped Mainecare patients. They lose 30 cents for each dollar reimbursed. Good luck to anyone who inherits that mess.

If you run screaming into the street with your rifle and you're the only one out there, go back inside. It isn't time yet.

I'm voting for Cutler as well. Mitchell has has more than her fair share of time (30 years or so) to shape Maine's government and I think its time she step aside. LePage is a non-starter for any number of reasons.

Cutlers seems to be the best choice here...non-incumbant, some new fresh ideas, the ability to draw upon some different life/management experiences. Seems like a slam-dunk to me.

Even if he does have a house in Cape Elizabeth.
