The US Interstate Highways were designed for 90mph based on 1950s automotive technology. Based on this alone, current speed limits are underposted.

A vehicle being driven at 45mph is being operated within the legal parameters, if you don't like it...too bad, deal with it. Not everyone is comfortable driving at higher speeds.

The minimum freeway speed limit in Michigan is 55mph.

According to this article, MOST Interstates were designed for a minimum of 75 MPH, with some lower speed limits allowed by exception to the rule.

Someone said Interstate freeways have a minimum speed limit of 45. This is not universal in all 50 states.

Another piece of data that shows speed limits are underposted (for revenue generation purposes).

I'm so old, I remember when the highways in Maine were raised to 60 miles per hour. We didn't have the fancy modern distractions of the day like texting, talking on the phone or listening to mega-watt car sound studios.

We had our own problems.....
