We have good snow cover and this week won't change that much. A bit of rain perhaps, but also a bit of snow.
Highs in the 30s.

Lucky you. Winter is still with you. Winter has already gone to court and divorced us on the coast. Winter won't even pay alimony and when it look like he's going to, he takes the cash away like he did yesterday when we got a coating of snow, but Spring had thrown it back at him already. Bastard Spring!

Lat year at this time, we had 4 feet of snow on the ground and 6 inches of ice in the drive way.

There's a nice snowpack around still central and northern Maine (maybe not every single backyard but not bad considering the winter we had!)

Use link to see current status

NERFC Snow Page

You can also check through your local WFO page.

NWS Caribou:

NWS Gray:

Here's how...

Click on link..
  • You can either choose Daily Climate Report or the Monthly Climate Data. Both have the snow depth but the monthly report shows every day for that month.
  • Choose Location.
  • Most recent or archives.
  • Go.
You'll see the snow depth for each day always measured at 7am (8am after time change this weekend)

Caribou had 11 inches on the ground 7am yesterday.

Todays data wont be on there until tomorrow.

Maine is the most heavily forested state in the nation. When you ride down the roads with all those bare lawns and fields a person could think the snow is gone. Those cold nights and snow on the ground in the woods mean the sap is flowing in the maples. The snow depth chart indicates average snow depth in the woods, not open ground.

Slow melting going on, but still quite a bit of snow. I have a feeling this weekend will be even crazier than last, for snowmobile traffic.

Looks like after next week we could see some changes back to winter. We'll see. Still over 6 days out.

Last chance for snowmobiling. The 2017 models are showing up from the shows and dealers want to unload them. You can often get one at a good price and the warranty period starts in November of 2016. You ride now and get an extended warranty. It all depends on weather.

Motorcycle sales drop off during a cold wet summer. Boat sales increase during a hot summer.

Have seen a fair amount of grass growing, first I thought it was just weeds and moss, but it's actually grass. In March.

I have at least one popple budding out, and the bees are starting to bring in some pollen. Looks like a Red Maple will be not far behind.
