Yes on the inside of the window, they help a lot. The winters are harsh do you have an electric blanket? I used an electric mattress pad https://www.prevention.com/life/g292...mattress-pads/

Get one of these https://www.homedepot.com/p/Suncast-...0024/207206768 for when the snow is real deep, along with your standard window sweep and Preston Deicer Spray. Also a shovel for your car https://www.walmart.com/ip/Telescopi...hovel/15054509 The winters aren't so bad if your ready.

Hello,

I read every post in this thread. Glad yo are settled and have gotten great advice from the people of Maine. Living in Maine is my dram and has ben for so many years. I almost moved around 1987. My then boyfriend however wanted to back out west. ( I am from western PA). So we ended up in Seattle. It was amazing but scary. I decided to go with him on very short notice. As they say everything happens for a reason. Married that guy divorced about 4years later. Met another guy and in Feb we will be married for 25 years. I am trying to convince him to move. The cost of living is getting so high and i am tired of the rat race, traffic, people, etc.

He works from home so he really can live anyplace but needs a good strong internet connection. I asked in another thread and need to find it to see if anyone replied. I would be okay with Portland but really want a smaller community. Of course even Portland is small compared to the west coast Portland which is where I live. We have a 14 year old and would need decent schools.

My thought is get our sh*t paid down or paid off and start saving. Maybe by next summer we could be ready. As much as I would love to pack up and say F it I know we really can't do that plus winter is coming on. And I do not want to uproot my daughter in the middle of the school year.

Anyways Citychick I am so happy to hear you are enjoying Maine. Please keep everyone updated

Interesting. Also from your area and thinking same. Portland is crazy pricy now. Do you research. Maybe wait til your kid is out of high school. It may take a few years to find the right spot in Maine.
