I always spend Christmas with my extended family Down South (I'm talking Atlanta, not Kittery) and am thinking with the low price of lobster I should take a bunch of lives ones with me this year as a special treat.

Is there a Maine Christmas Lobster tradition that I should take with me?

My address is: I'd pay for that shipment in a heartbeat!! Comparing to $24 a pound here, I'm sure shipping would be MUCH cheaper!

I'm finding some good recipes on the Maine Lobster Promotion Council site but I'd love to know if there are any Maine Christmas Lobster food traditions.

Generally the lobsters get sent to France for Christmas.

Tie a string around their tails and tie them to the Christmas tree like ornaments. Remove the bands from the claws and watch people "pick" them.

What a GREAT idea!

I personally haven't heard of lobster being served at Christmas. I guess some people might. Perhaps a cup of lobster stew before dinner????

Traditionally I would think we eat them more during the summer.

I don't have any recipes, but for Christmas Eve my parents & I have lobsters & steamers. Nana makes lobster stew for Christmas dinner & has since I was a kid.
