I think this is a bit crazy...especially since I work in the industry. There is no hard scientific basis for this.

There are many cancer "warnings" that are a bit crazy IMO. With all the things that we are exposed to on a daily basis for our entire lifetimes, I really can't see how we can realistically limit it to ONE particular causative
agent or another.

Just my $.02

The Maine Moonbat Coalition will not rest, as long as there is one private sector job left in this State!

Someday, instead of a smack when baby makes its appearance, they'll just tattoo "CAUTION: Life causes cancer" on the rear and call it good.

I've always been very concerned about this. There has been some scientific evidence pointing toward the possibility. But, I really can't see the cell phone industry allowing conclusive evidence to be released even if it were found. How long did it take 'big tobacco' to fall to conclusive evidence? Years and years. There's just too much money to be lost; I suspect if it's really true, it will take decades of head-butting to settle it.

I'm biased though: I think cell phones are the crack of our generation--hate 'em. I wouldn't feel bad if they disappeared completely. BUT, I WOULD feel bad because so many jobs would be at stake. That wouldn't really be a good thing in our economy.

Has anyone ever checked to see if rats are really susceptible to cancer? And scientific proof seems to depend on which scientist you talk to. Remember when they said "no eggs anymore, anytime"? Soon I expect to see a pack of smokes that says "The Surgeon General suggests an RDA of 3 cigarettes per day."

There seems to be less here than the headline would indicate. According to the AP story, there is one legislator, Andrea Boland from Sanford, who wants to introduce a bill. She is being allowed to introduce her proposal for discussion next month.

One of the great things about Maine is how easy it is to talk to your legislator. Anyone who has concerns about this proposal can get in touch with his or her rep about it with no great effort at all.

That is one thing I won't have to worry about, as I will NEVER possess a cell phone! Could you imagine what our forefathers would have thought, seeing someone standing around all day fiddling with some contraption!!! People are way too hooked on them! People have turned very rude with these things, too. Yakking it up in the stores and other public places. And a lot of them talk so loud! But it does make sense that they can cause cancer. Why would anyone want to take a chance? Escpecially with children and their overuse of the cellular phone!

Are you sure you won't buy one? LG has one with a projector on the bottom of it. Show stuff on the wall. Their ad shows a movie trailer. I hate cell phones but have one for motorcycle trips.
