I have noted that many of the trees are not quite as colorful as in the past few years. For example, the stand of birch near the end of my road pretty much skipped the golden hue and went straight to brown this year. However, many of the maples and other hardwoods along my route finally "got with the program" and really make the fall look on my drive home this afternoon.

Every autumn is different in some regards, however I am enjoying the gathering darkness and slowing down of life.

you are right, the leaves arent as colorful,
maybe it was the intensity of the sun this summer???

ive noticed the caterpillar nests in trees arent as plentiful this year

I attribute it more to the extremely wet late summer, myself.

I think it does depend on where you are. The immediate Bangor area is not as pretty as it usually is but I road out the Bog Road in Hermon the other day it was absolutely gorgeous.

By the way, any Black Bear Alumni here? Coming to Homecoming this weekend?? Stop by the Craft Fair and say hi. (DM me if you don't know what booth to look for!
)

I am excited to be doing this craft fair this weekend... and a little nervous. I have not done a craft fair in years. Cross your fingers, friends, that my newly constructed display booth goes together easily! And for the sake of the vendors, we as for "bad" weather! LOL (I am told that craft sales are better during bad weather as "the guys" tough it out to watch football, and the ladies come in and shop!

Can you imagine walking on your favorite trail and then this happens? Some of the folks didn't look too amused.
