Which opens up its own can of worms - why would a major highway have THREE route designations? Furthermore, why is Rte. 1 concurrent with I-93 instead of along the VFW Parkway? I've started another thread regarding this, for those who are interested.

OK people if you want to "go back" and look up greater Boston traffic issues (no matter what the road is called), look up Frederick Peter Salvucci. Some say he was the savior of neighborhoods, some say he was the Boston traffic nightmare creating ********. I am more of the he was a traffic creating ********.

I wonder if he stills wears his pants belt with the buckle off to the side like we all did in the 50's?

Remember the off ramp to nowhere where I93S and Rte 1S merged?

Do you watch TV or play with apps on your phone/tablet? I don't. I'd rather look at old maps of Boston for an hour than watch a reality TV show.

Ditto. I studied urban planning, so it's a bit of a passion for me and I spend a lot of my time discussing or reading about it.

Because this is Massachusetts and the people that planned and laid out our highways and major roads did not do so in a smart manner in some cases.

Whatever. It's perfectly normal for freeways to have multiple numeric designations in every state I've ever been in.

Off topic, but does your location: Baja Virginia mean North Carolina? I used to lurk UHub (have not been there in a while though) so I'm wondering if you're the same scratchie.
