The temperature difference between most of eastern mass and western mass is not that much different. The immediate coastal towns and the cape I would say yes. But Framingham and Springfield are pretty much equal. It isn't like Western Mass is getting Florida type heat and humidity and Eastern Mass is getting northern Maine type weather.

Usually there is only a slight difference. But yesterday it was so cold here in EMass by the coast that we wanted to turn the heat on. Friends back in WMass were emailing me about the heat and humidity.

In winter when I wanted to visit relatives in EMass I sometimes had to turn back due to snow covered roads. They wouldn't believe me since they didn't even have snow.

My ex and I did an experiment one time. He had moved out to EMass while I remained behind to sell the house. EMass had green grass and kids out playing sports while back in WMass it was still late winter. EMass was about a week or two ahead of us. And in the fall, the frosts come earlier in WMass. As a gardener, I know that well.

As far as weather is concerned, I'd agree that western MA is better in spring and summer (if you like it warmer) and eastern MA is better in winter (if you prefer less snow and a little warmer). My wife grew up near Philadelphia where summer is hot the way we both like it. And she misses the warm springs, too. She's usually freezing around here, and I only tolerate the colder weather a little better than she does!

Just for fun, I've been keeping tabs on the weather in Fairbanks, AK this spring. Yup, often better there in the spring! They should see 70F today. Boston won't.
Apart from a few days in the beginning of May where we had unseasonably cold weather, May has been a pretty warm month. We've had several days in the Boston area where the daytime high was in the high 60s and low 70s. Personally, that's comfortable weather. I would guess more than half the days in May saw daytime high temps of at least 68 degrees.

I can't take heat and humidity. if it was 70-75 and low humidity all year, It would be perfect. For that reason I love fall.

All this 90 degree heats and mugginess does is accelerate my plans for installing central air.

This is why I loved the climate in San Francisco.

Install some window units and you'll be all set. I have central air and preferred my window units, especially for sleeping.

That's what I have now, but I'm just not a fan of window units in general.

Central air in the main house (ranch style) with a mini split ductless AC/heat pump in the bonus room (kid's playroom) is my end goal.
