Even seeing the pops on tv live would be better than nothing at all.

Anyways there's some other layoffs

I guess fewer weddings mean less elegant postage...

ticket master laying off 25%. I guess that's due to fewer events at this point

I never did understand how they are the default (and stub hub) ticket company. Why can't they just sell direct?

Six flag is hiring in NY? What? How can you keep distancing on an amusement ride?

Jobless claims in Mass. top 893,000, or 24% of the labor force, amid coronavirus crisis

"More than 242,000 people in Massachusetts filed for unemployment pay last week, a record number swelled by newly eligible gig workers and independent contractors, the Baker administration said Thursday."

It's about the money.

Ticketmaster began as a company that provided software and ticket printers for the arenas as a way to eliminate the security and cost of having actual tickets printed for every event. Once their system was in an arena, all the regional promoters had to utilize the arena's ticket distribution system in order to book the space.

Ticketmaster then bought an artist management firm that handled the actual tours controlling where artists would perform. Ticketmaster today is part of Live Nation that owns venues (Xfinity Center, House of Blues), manages other venues, promotes music and theater tours, manages artists (US, Madonna, JayZ), owns festivals, etc.

Every step of the way, Ticketmaster takes it's little slice of every pie up the chain.

If you've been around Boston long enough, you've heard of Don Law entertainment. He was one of those regional promoters (band managers had to work with multiple promoters across the country) I mentioned. He was bought by SFX Entertainment that sold to Clear Channel who spun it's entertainment unit as Live Nation which merged with Ticketmaster to form Live Nation Etnertainment.

Live Nation's biggest shareholder is Liberty Media who owns Sirius/XM, the Atlanta Braves, and Formula 1 Racing.

I would expect a lot more layoffs to have happened today, on the last day of the month (payday).

And F ticketmaster.

It hits the fan tomorrow when the national number comes out. Not claims but the actual rate.

“Another 3.8 million people filed claims for jobless benefits last week, according to the Labor Department. While that's down from the previous week's 4.4 million, a staggering 30.3 million have applied for unemployment in the six weeks since the coronavirus began taking a wrecking ball to the U.S. job market.

That's roughly one out of five people who had a job in February.”

Well it doesn’t seem to be affecting real estate at the moment. I was just looking at recently sold homes in west Roxbury and everything has gone 20 to 40k over asking in the past month. Amazing. I don’t understand the appeal of that place.

Real estate will drop in price but slowly. People will still want to list for top dollar, but will realize after two months of zero offers or offers well below asking that they need to drop the price. Once the first listing drops by say 80K or more it’ll be a domino effect.

No, it has not ... at least not notably.

RE is very slow to price-in economic pressures. People forget that during the Great Recession (tm), which was lead by RE, RE prices didn't trough until around 2010-2012 (depending on location).

I don't expect any downward pressures on RE or equity markets until late summer/fall, at the earliest. MIght not happen at all thanks to heavy Fed and international stimulus/intervention.
