Of course people should go where they are happy. I doubt this issue was intended to drag out the way it has been.

For some reason people here like to talk sh*t about other towns and bring other towns down. I try not to do that. I might be surprised to see million dollar homes going for 1M in weymouth but these are the times we live in. If someone else is happy there paying 1M good for them.

It's cheaper than Wellesley but still has a very plausible commute to all of the job locations.

Well it's not cookie cutter.

You might say that, but if I would hope that if I was foolish enough to spend $1M on a house in Weymouth that a "friend" (or informed poster on a relocation forum like this) would talk me out of it. That's not a slight against Weymouth.

I know people that spent about 300k not too long ago for a home on the water in weymouth. Why anyone would spend 1M on a new house in some random development part of weymouth is beyond me. Nothing wrong with telling someone they are paying too much for something...but then people get beaten down here for that too.

I'm surprised to see Needham at $1.5M. Come on.

Let's put it this way...if a friend were to spend $300K for a home on the water in Weymouth, I would say "go for it!". If a friend were to spend $1M on some random house in Weymouth I would say "Have you lost your mind!". If a friend were to spend $1M on a nice house in Scituate, I would say "Go for it!". If a friend were to spend $300K for a condo in Fall River, I would say "Have you lost your mind!".

Nothing said here is a slight against any town, it's all merely acknowledging reality. Whoever gets offended, the problem is with themselves and not the messenger delivering common sense advice.

Growing up, it was known as just a regular upper-middle-class town but times have certainly changed.

yes. Honestly I don't even remember Wellesley and weston being as big a deal back then (90's) as they are today. They were known as nice towns but today people act like they're Bel Air
