And we continue to be met with crickets, when asked to provide support of this claim. Instead, you move the goalposts as you cherry pick apples to oranges sales in attempt to discredit the poster who correctly stated that the sale was in line for the area at the time.

Think you have the wrong person dude. Show me where I cherry picked sales? I haven't posted a single sale in Duxbury. I already said I don't know how to search for sales in 2019.

Man you guys are angry lately. It's a holiday weekend, relax!

Well they were the good old days and if you made $15/hour, you were doing well.

Well for one, you brought up your friend who moved to Marshfield because he couldn't find "the" house he wanted in Duxbury. Which of course had nothing to do with whether this other house discussed sold at a going rate, or not.

And for two? Let's see where I cherry picked sales!

I sent him a few Zillow listings and he could not believe what it cost to live in "Slummerville".
When my parents sold their 2 family in Somerville for $140K back in 1986, I was a junior in college. The mortgage was about $300/month and the rent from the first floor paid that and the upkeep. If I weren't so focused on getting out of Somerville, I would've have tried to convince him to keep it.

But as they say, hindsight is 20/20.

I have an associate who bought a triple decker in the 'Ville back in early 90's for about $250K. Today it's paid off and valued at $1.8 million. The rental income paid for 2 college educations. But he said the was terrified of the mortgage back then.

Just shows how easy boomers had it. I bet they didn't have six figure student loan debt either.

To be fair Somerville was far from the place it is now as alluded to earlier. My parents grew up there and had considered buying a multi family around the same timeframe. They decided against it because some of their friends and family who either inherited or did the same thing had to deal with some pretty bad situations or deadbeats.

The house my dad grew up in is now worth 2 million as is. He's thankful he kept it after his folks passed away.

I have a friend who wanted to buy in Somerville in 2007 cause of the green line expansion. Did that ever happen? He ended up buying in Maynard cause that's where his wife wanted to be. Now he's priced out of Somerville.

Why is Billerica called Somerville with trees?

I work w/someone who just moved out of Maynard about a year ago due to the property taxes being so high. They moved to Londonderry, NH and even though property taxes are high in NH with the no income tax it worked out to be better value for them than Maynard. Husband drives to Cambridge everyday and I was told even the commute is better from Londonderry.
