I am thinking about taking a job in Framingham and would have to commute from Peabody. I was wondering if anybody new how bad of a commute that would be?

I'm not sure how you would do it. 128 to 495 to rt.9?
I guess it not impossible, but it's not too terrific either.
However, in this job market...
If you went 128 straight south to the Pike, it might be shorter, but you'd be tangled in south traffic, which can be very heavy. Depends on where in Framingham the job is.
Best wishes.

FYI. We rented a place in Annisquam (Gloucester) last year to see what it would be like to live closer to my downtown-Gloucester office (our permanent address is in central Mass and my commute to Gloucester from here is an hour-and-one-half ONE WAY...ugh!). Anyway, my wife works in Framingham off Route 9 and in order to get from Gloucester to her office, in a reasonable amount of time (an hour and 15 minutes), she had to leave Gloucester either at 6:00 AM or 9:30 AM. Otherwise she got stuck in commuter traffic backups that started clogging 128 southbound around the Noth Shore Mall area. Coming back to Gloucester was just as bad. In order to beat the rush hour jams she had to leave Framingham by 3:30 or it was a 2-hour-plus battle getting back to Gloucester. Most days, then, she just stayed at work and left Framingham around 7 PM.

Ultimately, we gave up on buying a home in Gloucester and relocating there. No way would I recommend a commute to/from the north shore to the metrowest area....UNLESS you crave lots of time sitting in traffic jams.

Good Luck with your decision.
