Now anyone "low level racist minded" would be able not to just to judge who is suspicius or innocent (based on what he is wearing and the color of his skin), but to follow him armed down to street and shot him right in the chest and be free after that... viva la common law and party at NRA's.

Which is the way it is supposed to be.

So now the NAACP is going to contact the Justice Department to see if charges can be filed against Zimmerman for "civil rights violation". Oh please!

OJ Simpson got tried for the murder of two people, and when his not guilty verdict was read, certain people jumped up and cheered. But now that George Zimmerman's not guilty verdict has been read, the NAACP wants to take it to the DOJ?

Unbelievable.

The protests haven't even started, that's where the risk of violence comes. I remember the peaceful protests at the steps of the downtown courthouse and then Liberty City erupted in violence out of nowhere.

If they do they'll have to work on those trumped up "racism" charges. If I recall they tried very hard to do that before- with the help of their water carriers CNN and MSNBC, but they didn't seem to be very successful at coming up with anything that supported racism ultimately. That hasn't stopped certain segments of the population from claiming it was a racist act anyway, and IMO the DOJ will do the same thing if they're determined to take on a civil case against GZ.

But can't Trayvon Martin's family file a wrongful death suit against Zimmerman?

Unbelievable would be you! comparing OJ to Zimmermann who confessed to shooting and killing Trayvon Martin?

My understanding is that the Martin family has already sued the HOA on wrongful death, and they settled for $1M, paid for by the HOA's liability insurance. Realize that contingency lawyers could take 30%-50% of the settlement (plus the Martin family would have to pay taxes on what they take).

They could sue Mr Zimmerman individually, but, as a practical matter, they wouldn't collect much, if anything, though they could do so for other purposes.

More worrisome for Mr Zimmerman are potential federal criminal civil rights charges.

He may wind up seeking asylum in Venezuela, Ecuador or Bolivia, not Canada.

I do not think they can sue, FL gives immunity from being sued in self defense cases.
