This really is a futile argument for all us proponents of light rail. We're not getting any light rail system. However,in true Milwaukee fashion,by the time we get light rail everyone else will be teleporting like in Star Trek.

I dont understand why milwaukee has not built a lightrail. no milwaukee is not anywhere near as big as chicago but 2 million people is alot of people certainly enough to build a light rail. i cant imagine minneapolis having any worse of a traffic problem then milwaukee and minneapolis is in the process of building the central and southwest lightrails in addition to the hiawatha line and the northstar commuter rail. i think a light rail would do great things for milwaukee. milwaukee is a huge city and definitely needs more public transportation options.

Minneapolis does have more congestion.

Having recently experienced Twin Cities rush hour traffic, I can tell you that yes, it does have a worse traffic problem than Milwaukee. By a long shot.

Milwaukee has nowhere near 2 million people. The entire metro area is just over a million. Milwaukee itself is not a huge city. Around 600,000.
Um, actually Milwaukee County has nearly a million people and if you include illegals it's sure to be a million. With that being said the 5 county Milwaukee area has 1.8million people and the Milwaukee 7 area has 2.1 million. You can look up each individual county to see what I am talking about, plus everyone knows Milwaukee's metro is 1.8 so I don't know what you are talking about? and at 1.8 people just round up to 2 million.

@stanley47inripin Houston is such a car oriented (sprawl) city I can understand if the light-rail hasn't been a wild success. That said I've ridden the line there (very busy when I took it) and have been in the downtown before and after the light-rail went in and the area downtown certainly became more active (bunch of retail/restaurant/taverns) went in...

Finally, don't just look at population numbers, sure Houston's are high but look at density which plays a bigger role in rail's success and Houston's is pretty low i.e. very very spread out... over something like 500 miles.

Not a chance , I think light rail would be to costly for us here and it would not be used just like the freeway flier .

Cause in Milwaukee, the drivers get assaulted while driving.

Utah is different. Really really different.
