I would spend a day driving around these areas at night and during the day and make up your own mind. Soon you will realize that your ideas about what is the hood will match up with everyone else's idea of the hood.

Obviously you haven't been anywhere then. I have travelded and lived all across the US and if you think Milwaukee is ghetto, good luck on finding anywhere else to live.

I'm talking about all 96 sq miles and no suburbs. Yes it would have something to do with Milwaukee being ghetto. A lot of times you hear people from upstate Wisconsin or people from Jefferson county that go to state fair or go to a brewers game and think they are in the hood or when people think downtown Milwaukee is the worst part of town when statistically it's the safest. When you have been to other cities such as Memphis, New Orleans, Baton Rouge, PHX, Miami, Nashville, Cincy you get a real sense on how nice Milwaukee actually is. We all know the near north side is ghetto and parts of the near south side but those two areas do not make up majority of the city.

There is what I think all of us would call the serious ghetto, there's no denying that area. Then there are a couple areas that aren't ghetto but I wouldn't call them the best areas in Milwaukee. Other than that, all other areas are fine & what I would definitely not call ghetto. Would someone call Bayview or the east side ghetto? I think not.
