No ones referred to it as "Murderapolis" since 1995, and even then it was the New York Times.

Not sure what your point is. If you consider a high rate of murder to be some kind of desirable quality you may want to get your head checked.

crime seems to curtail when the temperature is below zero. One of the few advantages I guess.

The catch with Murderapolis is that there aren't just a decent amount of murders, it's where they are occurring. I believe murders have occurred recently in uptown and other "nice" areas of the city, not just limited to the gang neighborhoods.

I live in Chicago currently, large city, has plenty of murders. They don't happen hardly at all on the north side or lincoln park area that I live in.

I'd be more afraid of getting shot in uptown of Murderapolis than lincoln park of Chicago.

Wow. Here in Kansas City, I think we've already had 5 or 6, with shootings nearly every day... and that's just the city proper. It's also been very cold so far. Nothing to brag about, for sure.

I live on the South Side and have yet to see anyone so much as brandish a weapon and yet I had a friend who witnessed two men chasing each other down the street, one wielding a pistol, as he stepped outside of a house in, guess where - Lincoln Park.

The North Side of Chicago is not as safe as what people think it is, and conversely the South Side is not the complete hell hole that people think it is. As for the West Side, well.................it is about as bad as what people make it out to be. But then again.............I've been out there at late hours (hell, I go to UIC although I know that's not the "real" West Side) and nothing's happened. And I've been to Austin, K-town, Gage Park, etc. I've been all up and down this city, at least on the South and West sides.

Also, don't forget that the North Side is also home to such "transitional" neighborhoods as Uptown and Rogers Park. I used to live in Bronzeville and I think Uptown gets just as much, if not more crime than Bronzeville. Currently I live in Hyde Park and nothing ever happens here. Ever. It's like a freaking bubble, it's so quiet down here.
