• The delicate shades of brown and gray outdoors
• Skyrocketing heating bills
• Putting on bulky and expensive layers of outerwear to go outside
• A marvelous 8 hours of daylight, add clouds for extra specialness
• vitamin D deficiency

I love the first Winter Storm Watch of the season. I get all giddy when I think of firing up my big arse snow blower. How I love it so after shoveling for all those years!

I love that it's finally snowing! I have the biggest mug of hot chocolate beside me. Well, it's more like a bowl with a little... ok, ok, I HAVE A TROUGH OF HOT CHOCOLATE BESIDE ME! (And I'm loving it!)

I love the cold temps. I can handle -40*F better than 80*F for some reason.
As for the flu, I haven't gotten sick in years. That's because of one thing I DO and one thing I DON'T do. I DON'T get any immunizations or flu shots anymore. I stopped taking those 20 years ago because of the harmful, toxic metals in them. And I DO take Four Thieves Vinegar daily, which wards off EVERYTHING!

Happy first real snowfall everyone!

Up to 10" in the metro by tomorrow night with wind chill temps to reach -30*F! Comfort food season has begun! Woo Hoo! First order of business, Chicken and Bacon Pot Pies with Puff Pastry Lids.

My cat is currently mesmerized by the thick snowfall out the window. The only question left is, will tomorrow be a snow day from work? I take the very first bus in the morning and it usually drops me off 15 minutes before 6am (I start at 6). I guess I'll know in 18 hours.

We got 12" at our house yesterday. Very pretty. Temps aren't as bad as they predicted here though, certainly not the 50's we had the other day but the sun is bright and is melting stuff off the roads! Glad I didn't have a commute this morning

As a forty year resident, I'm resigning as a winter fan. Too many things go wrong. For me, the utter inability of transit systems to function after a snowfall is killer. Transit becomes like a dog walking. You ignore how badly it does it because of amazement it can do it at all. Now I think winter is just something to get through. And you can always hope for the "atypical winter" where the weather doesn't challenge the drivers and the transit with any weather problems. People who live here seem mentally resistant to ever learning how to drive in a new snowfall. It is just a bad joke that gets old eventually. How mentally deficient are we that we can't do something as SIMPLE as adjusting to changed conditions of the roads?

Autumn is still very nice. Spring before the bugs arrive is nice. Winter and the middle of the summer STINK. Good times to learn things about the rest of the world.
