My extended family is from there so we go to visit sometimes. It's got a lot of beautiful historic homes. It seems like it would be a nice place to live. My mother's best friends have returned there to retire, but my mom didn't want to. Too small for her. Hattiesburg is really congested.

Your friend is quite right. Many Hispanics working in Sanderson chicken business. Lots in construction, too. First-Trinity Presbyterian Church has been having English as second language classes to help them with the transition.

Kroger hasn't closed...Its actually the best place to grocery shop! =) Read in the paper yesterday, Mayor Mack was talking about a few resturants we're getting soon. One is now open, The Reserve. Its classy, affordable and has live music on weekends. Pretty cool for Laurel. The Ramada..is no more. Its the Laurel Conference & Hotel. Nasty! The bar inside is North of the Border...kinda like the grill with better people. Other than the s-curve being torn down, everything is pretty much the same. Been here 23 years and don't plan on going anywhere! =)

It has been so long I can't remember. I think the youngest was around 1971.

I would just about guarantee that you know somebody in my family. Did you have Miss Jewell in third grade at Calhoun?

I didn 't start at Calhoun till grade 4. I had Miss Bush, one of my all time favorite teachers. I do believe Miss Jewell was a teacher when I was at Calhoun though.

auntbee, I grew up next door to Donald Harrad. He graduated from Calhoun in 1965 which was the last graduating class from there. Did you happen to know him?
