LOL, really. You'll be wishing for wind to blow away the mosquitoes.

You can have the excessive heat and humidity, never miss that.

I don’t consider Missouri particularly windy. Don’t move to Oklahoma. That’s windy.
Food is not subject to state income tax? What is that supposed to mean?

I'm sure the poster was referring to state SALES tax for grocery food items.

I don’t recall the wind being bad in Missouri except during tornadoes. I mostly remember the humidity and summer heat, winter snows, blood sucking ticks, and foolishness of the state legislature.

The Missouri Property Tax Credit Claim gives credit to certain senior citizens and 100 percent disabled individuals for a portion of the real estate taxes or rent they have paid for the year. The credit is for a maximum of $750 for renters and $1,100 for owners who owned and occupied their home."

Our home is valued at $120,000 and taxes were $320.
Is the $320 for the year?

Here in NJ, I am paying about $10,000 / yr on property tax.

Yeah, it's kind of entertaining.

Even if the sales tax is a little high, the mere existence of Kansas City's "e-tax", or the annual personal property tax on things like cars and boats, it still doesn't hold a candle to what they could be paying elsewhere.

I don't suppose it's the lowest tax state out there, but it is very reasonable and manages to function pretty well in terms of infrastructure and basic services that are expected of a government.

This was several years ago, but my sister lived in the City of Milwaukee in a house that was probably worth $250-300,000 at the time. Nothing special. Her real estate taxes were north of $10,000 and the public schools were so bad she had to send her kids to private school.
