How much is it? I took the Staten Island ferry (from lower Manhatten to Staten Island and back) a few years ago and it cost 25 cents. I think it's free now but they no longer transport vehicles.

So I'm gonna do a very rough estimate of what the population of Mobile County from an inventory of for the census (so my stats will end on July 2020. In that time the inventory went from 3413 to 714 so that's extra 2699 homes filled and in that time 7300 homes were built (thank you copy and paste and excel) so that means (funny enough) exactly 10,000 homes made or fill in those 10 year and from Census.org the average person's per household in Mobile County is 2.6 person's per household so that would mean that 26k people joined the county. Which is would bring the county population close to 440k which would be wild, how ever unlikely...but the math is sound.

Still though, not outside the realm of possibilities given the states 100k spread

They make up for it with the cost of everything else lol. I took one from port Angeles, wa to Victoria, Bc round trip. There were four of us in a sedan and it was pretty expensive (about $70 for vehicle and driver and 20 per person) but it’s also a significantly longer distance.

True enough. I can say I had similar thoughts. wemo (shillinger and west of it) and baldwin has grown so much over the past 10 -15 yrs it can make you think the city of mobile is gutted, stagnant or whatever but then that would mean the county numbers don’t add up. There’s clearly growth but the numbers reported don’t reflect. I do believe the past census and estimates are not accurate but it’ll definitely be interesting to see the number when they’re released

Did you leave out the deaths, births, and out migration? I saw that data on al.com a few days ago, I beleive for the whole state. I remember Madison County had something like 31,000 deaths in the 10-year period (2010-2020).

My assumption here is that the population is based on the housing stock. Deaths, births, and migration need not apply as the assumption is made that every house with no one in it would be sold for a no net population change. So you assume the base population of 413k stays the same, so now just add the housing stock added to the system which was 10k at 2.6 per household

So yea i think my math is sound, I used the same assumptions and calculated Baldwin Counties population increase and nearly got the same number as estimated. I got 44812 and I think estimated is like 43k somewhere around there
