Couldn't get into ET and never watched all of it, but do love The Wizard of Oz.

Whether they admit it or not, almost everyone likes the 'Sound of Music.' Same probably goes for alot of kid's movies, actually, especially Disney and more recently Dreamworks (Lion King and Shrek are good examples) . Comedies tend to have wider appeal than most genres. I think if you give it a chance the 1959 comedy 'Some like it hot' is hard to dislike. I think some of the Steve Martin comedies of the 90s like the Parent Trap and Father of the Bride also have quite a wide appeal actually.

I hated "The Sound of Music" even as a child I'm afraid ( I always wanted to throw something at perky Julie Andrews, she was nauseating) . Most musicals in fact.
