I, too, just got back from seeing the movie. Fantastic.
I thought Stephen King always made a "cameo" in his movies, but, I didn't catch him anywhere.
Does he only do that for TV?
Stephen king was not involved in the making of this version.
I just saw the movie and was not impressed. I guess I like a good story better than special effects. this movie lacked any depth of character and was very disappointing to me. I won't be seeing part 2.

Wow. You are the first person I have seen a review from that wasn't happy with this movie. I can't to hear more reviews from people before I decide if I am going to brave the clown.
Misery and Dolores Claiborne were brilliant. And Carrie, of course, is America's Great Epic. Carrie speaks for all of us, and when she kills, she kills for all of us (all of us, at least, who were bullied, in school, to the edge of death). I saw Carrie, the first time, in a deserted dorm common room, on a night between Freshman Orientation and the start of classes. For me, it was cathartic, healing... EMPOWERING. In a way, it marked the end of my miserable old life, as a hated & helpless child, and the beginning of my new life - as... as whoever and whatever I could make myself into.
King is brilliant, when it comes to psychological dramas centered on women.
But golly - 'It' was the most monumentally boring thing I've ever suffered-through (having never suffered through a sporting event, or an automobile race - and viewing our box at the Ballet/Opera as a great place for a good long nap - unless I have to wake up, to punch my snoring sons or husband -, I'm relatively unscathed by monumental boredom). The kids kept hoping 'It' would "get good": but it never did. So, when it came to 'The Stand', and 'The Langoliers'.... well... those bore-marathons went back to the video store, the same nights we rented them - skipped-through, pretty quickly.
So, please forgive me, for NOT awaiting the remake of 'It' with bated breath.
