Renting in the area is a good idea and makes alot of sense. That will give me time to check out all the different neighborhoods and local towns and not make a big mistake. I know when i moved from California to Maryland back in 1993, it took a while to get a good sense of the different areas and then when i finally did buy here, I knew what i was getting into. As far a China, I think we do way too much business with them as it is. I would have no idea of what would be a good investment over there. I think if one were to invest and had some extra some money or an IRA, then alternative energy in this country would be the way to go.
renting in the mb is going to cost you a lot more than buying. my cousin is renting a 3bedroom home in carolina forest right now for 1800 a month in the farm subdivision.
Location: Sunny Phoenix Arizona...wishing for a beach.

Wow he's getting ripped off. I saw a 3 bedroom at the Farm in the paper today for 995.00. It looks pretty nice, Lawn service, and trash included. I've seen homes for 1800 for rent but they are pretty upscale. I haven't seen any homes in the Farm I would consider that upscale. Don't get me wrong I like the Farm and I wouldn't mind purchasing a home in that subdivision, but upscale it ain't.
I pay 1200 a month for a 3 bedroom in Walkers Woods and I consider that expensive, I probably would have been able to chew her down.
I was wondering about the latest info on house prices in Horry County. Up here in Maryland the prices have stablized a bit but home sales are very slow. I have my house up for sale and as soon as I sell I'm heading to Horry County to look around for my next house outside of MB. Anyone with first hand experience with what the real estate market is doing right now in the MB area? Thanks,
We closed on a 3 Bdrm 2 ba 2car in 57th Place which is in Longs for 156K in February. House is 2 years old. Not my dream home but it'll do for a temporary house while we build elsewhere. Taxes are around $500 but because hubby is senior it'll adjust (when we apply) to $250 a year! What a drop! We pay 15,000 a year now!
Good luck
I just sold a couple houses and they went for within $5,000 of the asking price. I keep hearing REALTORS saying business has picked up. It seems prices have stabilized a bit.
You can easily buy a house right outside MB for $150,000.
Condos on the other are a big problem. There are so many of them still on the market. The prices might still drop.
Been a year since the last post on this subject. What have been the changes to real estate prices since then? How's the housing market right now in the MB area?
my husband's best friend supplies various construction companies and he told us to never buy a D.R. Horton home... matchstick house is what they call them. i know 2 people that live in the farm (D.R. Horton homes) one said that one of the second floor bedrooms had a hole in the corner of the closet where she could see sunlight coming through and the other said that her back door opened to the outside??? and when it rained, water came into the kitchen... there were other issues as well.
a true supplier would never tell something negative about someone he sells to because it is his bottom line that would take a hit....only someone that is pissed he is not selling the project talks ...and what do they really know?
