My Mom is in her 80's but is going to watch the SuperBowl and has said she wants chicken wings. SHE can't eat anything too spicy so I may just go to Zaxby's BUT who makes the best wings in Nashville?

And (because I haven't ever had one) is the flavor basted onto the wings or do you just get different dipping sauces? We had a chicken wing bar at our Stop & Shop up in CT. Does anyplace have a 'wing bar' down here?

Thanks! (I only watch for the commercials . . )

Personally, I think Broadway Brewhouse/Mojo Grill off of West End have the best wings. They certainly have some of the hottest...their hottest level is made of some fiery concoction of habanero peppers and molasses. Sweet, then it burns. For a long time. Their wings are breaded, if that matters. Jefferson's in Brentwood also has some really good wings.

Some areas of the country are staunchly "naked" meaning no breading, covered in sauce. Others swear by breading the wing/drumstick first. I think we're a good balance of the 2 styles. You see them both pretty equally here.

I'd vote for Jim N Nick's (classic buffalo drumsticks only, either Nashville or Smyrna locations), or for a dry rub style - Cross Corner in Brentwood, TN (off Franklin Road north of Concord Road, behind Kroger). Looking forward to trying Jefferson's now too though...

Martin's BBQ in Nolensville has some great non-traditional wings in Alabama white sauce. They're delicious.

This thread is REALLY making me hungry! Thanks, all. What is "Alabama white sauce"? Is it like the stuff they put on chicken fried steak?

Alabama white sauce is a mayonnaise-based sauce with vinegar, salt, and pepper, and, depending on who makes it, can have other stuff like garlic and horseradish. It can be thin or thick.
The white cream gravy on chicken-fried steak is NOT the Alabama white sauce.

I had the "Alabama" white sauce when we went to Martins and it was pink and like nothing I ever had in Alabama

Tonight we went to Wing Basket and enjoyed their wings. We ordered seasoned fries only to find out the seasoning was salt and sugar!

Hmm...I don't remember it being pink. That's not exactly appetizing.

This is the recipe I use for it when I make it at home: mayo, vinegar, salt, sugar, black pepper, lemon juice. Easy to make...delicious.
