Just to let you know that you won't have to shovel BUT it's a huge hassle to get anywhere when we do get . . . a few flakes!

I was terrified of driving this morning, and I'm afraid the melted snow will just freeze again overnight. I was 45 minutes late to work, but that was pretty much the norm today for everyone. It gets cold enough TO snow here quite a bit. It just rarely actually happens, and people panic when it does. It's like when I lived in California and people did this when it rained.

I appreciate all of the additional information on the weather. Everything closing down or backing up when there is a small amount of snow is going to be something I will have to get use too. I don't like driving in the snow here but I will say that the majority of people in Wisconsin are use to the weather and can drive in it. I am hoping that this type of weather is limited for sure in Nashville!

It all just really depends on the year, so far 2013-14 winter, not even officially winter yet, is lining up like the winter of 2009/10. That winter, 2009, we had snow on Christmas day, and what seemed like a snow storm every week, and below temps all winter, and then the 2010 flood in May... Thus far October-December has been even colder, Thanksgiving morning was 16 degrees...We are getting the precipitating riding along the same jet streem coming up from the south, and all we need is it to meet the cold air at the same time for a good snow storm.

I'd also add that while CountryGirl only got 1/10th inch, we got an inch in Hendersonville so it can be very hit and miss sometimes. And it often seems to be just warm enough to melt the precip when it hits the roads, then freezes creating ice, then it drops enough for the snow to actually stick.

Antioch's right, it is shaping up to be a messy winter this year. Usually after the second or third big (by our standards) storm, people finally figure it out: leave early, drive slowly, drive smartly.

There are still traces of the light snow we got Tuesday still in shaded areas or on hill sides that don't get the sun... now that is a bit rare considering it is not even actually winter yet.

haha yeah there's a very distinct and symmetrical line of snow and ice outside of our office and into the parking lot because the sun doesn't hit there. It's only starting to go away

My front yard still has snow today. And we probably got close to 1/2 inch the night it snowed.

I've lived in KY, northern OH, and now TN. Nashville definitely panics with snow much more than Kentucky and especially Ohio. On the flip side, when it hits 90 in northern Ohio they think the world is ending. There is "bad weather" everywhere. It just depends on what everyone's definition of it is and what they're used to.
