So are you suggesting JCPD instead? How about NYPD then?
No , i was saying how the NJTPD and PAPD always seem to think there above the JCPD / NYPD when there not. There wannabe cops and there bad at it....most Employees and Rail / Transit fanners have a general opinion on that...

They patrol all the ports, bridges, and tunnels, and all points of entry into NYC (like bus stations), not the WTC. They patrol on both the Jersey and the NY side, as well as on the Philadelphia side at the port over there. They also patrol Port Newark.
Headquarters for PAPD is in Jersey City at the Port Authority Technical Center at 241 Erie Street, right near the Holland Tunnel.

About - Port Authority Police - Port Authority of NY &amp NJ

You could probably contact them and find out when the next police test will be. A lot of their work is traffic, since they handle the Hudson River crossings, but they are also at the airports, since they are run by the PA and also the PATH system. PA police are also in the NY/NJ state police departments. Sometimes if one of the border cities--Jersey City, for example, is hunting down a suspect that may flee into the city, they'll call a PA cop to accompany them because the PA cop will have authority in either state. 37 PA cops were killed at the WTC on 9/11/01.

They don't handle the Jersey side of Philadelphia. That's way out of the PA's jurisdiction.

Yuck. A dozen or so people jump off the GWB every year, a few more off the Staten Island bridges.

That would be the DRPA (Delaware River Port Authority) police, but I don't think they're hiring either.

NYPD has very low pay.

I would just apply to everywhere you can. A cop is a cop is a cop more or less.

Their web site says you start at almost 45k while in academy. Considering the benefits, I don't think it's that low for an entry level cop.

you do realize that you have to live in nyc to be nypd right?

at 45k the most rent you'll be able to afford (following the 40x rule) is $1125. Good luck finding a place in nyc at that rent that isnt public housing (projects) or in a warzone.
