Atlantic City, perhaps? Be nice...I'm new!
Sorry if I'm breakin' rules already...Just new at this. Looking into moving to Jersey...Looks like most of you hate it for the same reasons I hate here. I was in Holmdel for the weekend a month ago and LOVED IT! Sandy Hook was great! Want to go where the winters are "warmer" with like very little snow, no more than an hour from the beach and close to night life...SWF needs a happening social life (and a decent office job-I might earn 40K there.)! Demographics looked good but sound lousy like here as urban sprawl has invaded the burbs (stuck in the midst of Buffalo and the Falls)! Please advise...Or should I keep looking in Delaware?

Reason: Not necessary comment - I take offense to that!

NO, definitely not AC!! Nice place to visit, you know the cliches. If you like Holmdel, go there. I like that area as well. You'll be close to what you're looking for as in socially. But for the job, you may have to travel a little bit to get what you're looking for. Not too far though.
Good luck!!

Much less snow down near AC than up in Holmdel even though there is only about 100 miles between them, but I am willing to bet even Holmdel gets far less snow than where you are coming from. Atlantic City Airport, which is 10 miles inland averages 12 inches a year, but that goes way down as you get closer to the ocean.
AC proper is really depressing but nearby mainland towns like Northfield, Linwood, Absecon, Smithville, and Somers Point have their charms. For beach towns near AC I would look at any other town other than AC. Brigantine, Ventnor, Margate, Longport, or Ocean City southward to Cape May. Some of the beach towns may be nearly deserted in the winter and mobbed in the summer where as people actually live on the mainland.

Holmdel is really nice.
Ok, I am not a SWF (not even close!) but I would tell you to go look at Red Bank and Shrewsbury as well. I would stay away from AC and Delaware.

Thanks! I have Ventnor bookmarked and am looking into Virginia too, BTW!

Thanks for the response, and chuckle...Wondering what "far from" SWF means...MBM?! LOL. What's wrong with DE? They don't have sales tax!!! We get ripped off here, big time! 8.25% and rising. (PS: Will check out the other towns you noted.)

Considering you're single, and there is going to be a huge MGM casino/resort/spa going in AC within the next 9 years, that may not be such a bad place to think about. You could very well wind up with a good investment property. There are going to be lots of employees and visitors to the MGM resort once its up and running. I would also think about Asbury Park. That town is going to be revitalized soon.

Holmdel was great but I didn't like that I was so close to NYC. Aren't there clean neighborhoods like 45 min. away from AC that might make it worthwhile? Don't think I'd mind a commute. I think I'd like to be near there because I imagine there would be cool PT jobs to snag at a casino/club, plus there's the shore and must be many other "things" to do for leisure...Like I imagine it would be a "happening" place. (BTW: Not into the "arts/culturals" scene and am burned out with the "helping people" rationale around here...A town soon to be revitalized just isn't for me.) Want to be where its warmer and closer to "life" (its so dead here), with less snow and many options for good times, new people and leisure/socialization...Yes, I'm lookin into many towns there, but a first-hand opinion tells more than a narrative on a website. So, tell me more please...

If you were in towns like Shrewsbury or Red Bank you are 45 minutes from The City, and still around an hour from AC. I am not quite sure why you do not want to be within 45 minutes from NYC. Most of the towns mentioned are just that...towns.
The crime in AC is still bad, and there is no way that you would want to live inside of AC. Ever since the late 70's we have been hearing that AC will be built up and become safer....what a bunch of crap.
If you want to go a bit further South from The City, but closer to AC, then maybe you want to look on Point Pleasant Beach. Yes, the Summer traffic is a bit hellish, but it is a nice safe town, an area of shoppes, a really nice beach (on the Ocean, not on an inlet) and very safe.
