I still remember not too long ago being a snot nosed 20sumthin, standing on the sidewalk with my best friend. Out of the corner of my eye I spotted the Mister Softee truck. It was like a Visa commercial. She was sipping her soda as I yelled "Hey Lisa, here comes your boyfriend"
and pointed towards the truck. People around us stopped to look....
Mister Softee Cone $5.00
New sunglasses $25.00
Soda squirting from your best friends nose=Priceless
OK I'm a big dope. I FAILED to mention that just hours earlier my friend Lisa had just confided in me that last night her boyfriend had Whiskey D ick. hence the Mister Softee arrival became so hysterically funny.
About freaky amusement parks - somewhere up north Jersey Wild West City still exists - you can go there and they shot off cap guns like cowboys and Indians -very un P.C.
In central and south Jersey, some middle consonants like a "t" will disappear. So it becomes Sump-um (something), Tren-un (Trenton), 'Lannic City
This is oooooh so very true! I don't think i'm seeing a lot of South Jersey stuff in here. Which is sad. Kinda crazy how different North and South is. I dunno, but to me... a lot of this Jersey accent i hear comes from the NYC area.. and it doesn't feel like its really Jersey talk. Feels like NYC just over flowed. So that whole kinda Italian "Forgetabbotet" Stuff doesn't count for me. Thats to NYC tippical style. So i dont count any of that as being real Jersey lingo.
Needs some more south jersey love too. Wood-er (Water) South Jersey people say short a's very differently. Kinda like me-ad (mad) slide the naisaly e sound into a short a sound. haha and us south jersey peeps knows what a Wawa is.. and we swear by them. Which also coined the phrase "I gad'a tap mac" which means.. i need to get to the ATM.
Bennie's - Those people who came down the Parkway to vacation at the shore. (Recalls those Labor Day weekends sarcastically waving good bye to the Bennie's as they clogged the NB Parkway. )
Clamdigger's - What the Bennie's call us locals.
Piney's - People that live inland from Central to So. Jersey
