Good morning
I got selected for a lottery apartment but the unit is too small for all my furniture that i just bought last year. I wonder if i can ask to see a bigger apartment or will that be considered turning down a unit? What rights do i have Hpc and HPD already approved all my paperwork.

It doesn’t hurt to ask politely. Do you qualify for a larger unit? Is it the same price, or is this a case of a studio versus a one bedroom?

Yes, it won't hurt to ask as macnyc2003 said but in my experience, it's usually a take it or leave situation since they have so many people vying for these affordable units. I'm assuming you've already seen the "too small" unit, why didn't you ask right then and there if it was possible to see another unit that's larger while you were in the building?

The same thing happened to me. I wanted a one bedroom, but got a studio instead. I had to throw out a lot of items from my previous apartment.

Be reasonable. It's one thing if they gave you a different unit size (studio v. 1-bed), but within a unit size? Do you think everyone else in the lottery wants a smaller apartment?

You don't have to take it. There are plenty of people who passed due to apartment size....unless you've already signed the lease, you still have a choice.

I’m considering letting it pass. But i honestly do need a 3 bedroom. I’m
Just confused why would they give me a mother with 2 kids a small
Apartment versus a woman with grown ass kids a bigger apartment. That makes no sense. I feel
Like a potential tenant should be able to view more than one unit

Well my neighbor who does not work at all (very capable) is on welfare and in a one bedroom. I go to work everyday and in a studio, I'm also paying over 2K a month, while this loser lives there for free.

What can I say, the world is ****ed up.
