One good thing about this location is that you have various transportation options, which are right there! If one needs to come and go late at night, one may, if riding the subway, sit in the designated waiting area, for your safety. If one is waiting for the bus, wait at base of the subway entrances; there are transit workers waiting for buses for their shift due to West Farms being, 1) a driver changing stop, and 2) the last stop on a couple of bus lines. A good thing about that is if god-forbid anything does happen, one can get assistance and there are witnesses.

Lets.

I went to High School on the Grand Concourse from 84-88.
The absolute height of the crack epidemic.
The things I saw.....
Sad.

Crack heads and dope fiends on every block.

When I was growing up I always thought it was normal to see vast expanses of empty lots, and wondered what used to be on them. Walking to school every morning I would pass the strung out drug addicts, stepping on crack viles, and I thought it was all normal.

It was definitely night and day from where it is today, and had it not improved so much I would probably be gone too.

Figured since nobody answered, I would since maybe it'll help somebody out in the future.

It's alright to take the Bx36 to the Bx9 to the BL-2 (the BL-1C, 1T, and 1W would also work as well).

You can also take the 2 train up to 238th Street and then take the BL-25 or BL-26 into Yonkers. Either way should take you about 90-120 minutes.
