I just don't understand the logic.

Please don't try and drop logic on the these posters in question. They simply ignore it and it's a waste of effort.

The city should renew the Street Crimes Unit and bring back stop-n-frisk. Here in Philly it's something like 10 years if caught with both a handgun and drugs at the same time. NYS should consider similar.

Great, give the out of control thugs in the NYPD more power. That'll make the city lots better.

I don't see where passing laws accomplishes anything other than satisfying a bunch of bureaucrats, unless they're actually going to be enforced. And with the city crying poverty at every turn, where's the money for additional enforcement coming from?

1. Stop and Frisk never ended..it goes on and the city is on track for a record number this year. Clearly that isn't the solution.

2. As for muxbuppy, you are saying gun laws only protect criminals, so why have them at all? Did you really say that? In that case, let's abolish all laws, cuz really, they only protect criminals. I am sure that will work out just fine.

3. If the theory of everyone having a gun makes us all safer, then all countries should have nuclear weapons. That will clearly make everyone safer!

you keep using the words "everyone " NOT EVERYONE should have anything ,only those that are deemed suitable to have them.

not all countries should have nuclear weapons and not all citizens should have guns. thats what the permit process is for.

Every country does not have Nuclear weapons neither does or will every person. Like mathjak107 posted there is a permit process. Banning guns all together does not eliminate illegal activity. It will only increase it.

That logic of nuclear weapons is comparing apples & oranges.

I am all for the permit process, however only some places have it...and we know in other places it's a free for all with guns...and that's the problem and what Bloomie is complaining about. I would rather have no guns rather than everyone with a gun, but if we must have guns, we should have a better permit/control process across the board, and we don't have that now...and the gun lobby is trying to exploit that.

you cant control every town in america and what they do, thats crazy thinking .

on the other hand a national permit system would be nice to do . but that wont be strict enough for nyc, new jersey and other tough cities and states ..

we can only control what goes on here and the process we have is quite good at that.

if anything more ccw permits should and could be issued in nyc but we will never see that in my lifetime.
