These are things that bored suburban kids do, I guess these centers need to adapt to realize that your gonna get a bunch of Mall Rats if your not vilagint about it.
Also , I doubt these kids thought it would fall as slowly/quickly as it did. Maybe they never learned free fall speed of 9.8m/sec^2 ?

I know for a fact those Dominican guys who threw the cart over are probably at Jfk airport trying to catch the next flight back home. Lots of Dominicans do this when they commit crimes and fly back home un a heart beat don't worry my peopled do the same thing too. When things get better in the Bronx it just takes a small group of people to ruin it. Like vultures fighting for scraps these idiots fight over parking spots. Don't get me wrong I see a lot of Africans who dominate these cab business in the gateway mall they are always walking around asking for a cab rides. I shop there once in s while thank goodness it wasn't me hit. I hope these guys recover from their injuries.
There should be nothing disturbing or surprising here. It could have easily been dueling mafia families fighting over turf and executing a rival. This isn't disturbing at all..it's quintessential NYC in 2012...it's Dominicans dueling Africans instead of Italians dueling Irish from 50 years ago.

Actually one of my fraternity brother has some taxis and he said that at both centers, there have been stabbings, fights and smashing of car windows/cars over 12$ fares. He says at both 116th and Gateway there are alot of cops out now.
